Ullal TMC Officer in Lokayukta net

Ullal, Jul 14: The Lokayukta police on Friday arrested the chief officer of Ullal Town Municipal Council Chetan S. Kolavi for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs. 50,000 from a contractor.

Lokayukta police said Mr. Kolavi had reportedly demanded Rs. 1.6 lakh from contractor Guruprasad to release a cheque for Rs. 17.5 lakh. The cheque was related to the drainage work done in the TMC limits. Following a complaint, the Lokayukta police laid a trap and caught Mr. Kolavi while he was receiving Rs. 50,000 from Guruprasad in his house near Thokkottu junction.

Mr. Kolavi, accused under the provisions of Prevention of Corruption Act, was produced before the 3rd Additional District and Sessions Judge, who remanded him in judicial custody.
