Kasaragod, Nov 1: Assistance of Rs. 1 crore to be given to aided schools

The government will strive to turn all State-run schools into centres of excellence on a par with global standards, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has said.

The State will improve the overall standards of schools so as to help them compete with their counterparts with global standards, Mr. Vijayan said while addressing a public function after inaugurating a new building block of the Government Vocational Higher Secondary School at Kayyur, near Cheruvathur, here on Tuesday.

It is imperative that the school PTA, people’s representatives, old students and voluntary agencies join hands to support the initiatives by the State, he pointed out. The government is planning to enhance the academic standards of schools by equipping them with smart classrooms besides putting in place a mechanism to impart quality education. The government has decided to provide assistance of up to Rs. 1 crore to all aided schools, he said.

Earlier, Mr. Vijayan inaugurated a bus stand-cum-shopping complex at Chittarikkal in East Eleri grama panchayat.
