Two held at airport for gold smuggling

The Cochin Customs has seized 1.5 kg of gold, valued at Rs. 47.35 lakh, from two passengers at the Cochin International Airport on Saturday. The gold was seized in two separate cases, said a press release from the Customs here.

In the first case, 20 gold bars weighting 756 grams were seized from a passenger, a native of Kozhikode, who arrived from Jeddah by Air India flight AI-964. 

In the second case, 757 grams of gold was seized from a passenger from Kozhikode, who arrived at the airport by Etihad flight EY-246. Both the passengers have been arrested.
