Mangaluru: St Agnes College launches monthly e-magazine 'AgneSwara'

Mangaluru, Aug 8: AgneSwara, the e-magazine of St Agnes College was launched by District 1 A (USA) former district governor Dr Austin D’Souza Prabhu at the College on August 8, Thursday.

Dr Prabhu who is also the editor of Veez Konkani Illustrated Weekly International e-Magazine, spoke on how e-Magazines can be used as effective tools of communication. “Communication is very important in this era. We can use it for good or bad. It is crucial to understand how and when to communicate,” he said.

He advised the students to be disciplined in whatever they do to achieve success. While social media is an excellent medium to express oneself, it is important to learn on using the various social media platforms effectively, he advised.

College principal SrDrJeswina A.C presided over the programme. “AgneSwara is the voice of this institution. It aims to be a window of St Agnes College, giving world the glimpse of the vibrant life at the institution. E-magazine is an excellent method to document various programmes held by different departments, achievements of the faculties and students. Also, it can be shared with all stakeholders with great ease. I congratulate the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication for taking up this initiative,” she said.

The launch of the AgneSwara was done digitally by Dr Austin Prabhu. Journalism and Mass Communication HOD Sandhya welcomed the gathering and introduced the chief guest. St Agnes College administrator Sr Carmel Rita was present on the auspicious occasion. AgneSwaraconvenor and assistant professor DeekshithaPrashanth proposed the vote of thanks. Journalism student Jennifer D’Souza compered the programme.

Dr Austin Prabhu, who has a street named after him in USA was felicitated. DrPrabhu was wished as he is also celebrating his birthday.

The College remained closed on August 8, as the DC had declared holiday in the backdrop of heavy rains. AgneSwara launch was attended by the faculty of St Agnes and the hostel students.
