Gold worth Rs. 34 lakh seized at airport

Kochi, Jun 19: Customs air intelligence officials at the Nedumbassery airport on Sunday foiled yet another attempt to smuggle gold and seized the metal worth Rs. 34 lakh from an international passenger.

The Thrissur native, who had arrived here from Sharjah in the morning, was intercepted at the exit gate. Crude gold granules weighing 1172.9 g, concealed in the top portion of 10 perfume bottles in his check-in baggage, were recovered.
