Mangalore, December 20: Dakshina Kannada Mobile Forest Special Police Squad have seized nine star tortoises found in the possession of Rajesh Kumar (38) at Adipila near Narikombu village in Bantwal taluk.
Acting on a trip-off, the squad, under the direction of IGP Nissar Ahmed, detained the suspect and found nine star tortoises in his possession.
After registering a case under the Wildlife Protection Act, the accused was handed over to Bantwal Range Forest Officer (RFO) for detailed investigation, sources said.
