Chennai, Nov 21: Rajinikanth is easily one of the biggest superstars the country has ever seen. And the first look launch of '2.0', which was held in Mumbai on November 20, was an event that was truly befitting the megastar.
Besides Rajinikanth, the grand launch was attended by Akshay Kumar, Amy Jackson, director Shankar, music legend AR Rahman and hosted by Karan Johar. The surprise star of the event was Salman Khan, who said that he specially came to meet his idol.
The film's first look garnered wide appreciation and aroused a lot of curiosity among the audience. The talking point, of course, was Akshay's dramatic look in the sci-fi thriller.
Rajinikanth himself showered praises on Akshay. The superstar said, "I am not the hero of '2.0', Akshay Kumar is. If given a choice, I would have loved to do that role. The entire country will applaud him when they see his work."
The Shankar-directed film sees Rajinikanth playing doctor-scientist Vaseegaran while Akshay plays a scientist called Dr. Richard, who turns into a Crow Man after an experiment goes wrong. '2.0' is the sequel to the 2010 hit 'Robot' and is slated for Diwali 2017 release.
