Model Preeti Jain Gets 3-year Jail for Plotting to Kill Madhur Bhandarkar

Mumbai, Apr 28: Mumbai-based model Preeti Jain was on Friday sentenced to three years in jail for plotting to kill filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar.

The Sessions Court verdict marked the conclusion of the 15-year-old case which began in 2004 when Jain accused Bhandarkar of rape and filed a police complaint against him. The rape case was quashed by the Supreme Court in 2012.

She paid Pardeshi Rs 75,000 but since the gangster did not carry out the “contract”, she demanded her money back. Gawli’s men then reportedly alerted the police.

A case was registered on September 10, 2005 and Pardeshi was arrested the same day. Jain was picked up while she was on her way to the Versova police station.
