Bengaluru, Jul 20: BJP state president B S Yeddyurappa on Wednesday accused the state government of playing with the sentiments of people on the separate state flag issue.
The government is aware that there cannot be two flags in the state. Still it is playing with the sentiments of people. It is nothing but a gimmick ahead of the Assembly election, he told reporters in Bengaluru.
Yeddyurappa said that when he was the chief minister, he had written to the then UPA government at the Centre seeking recognition to the state flag. “The then UPA government had informed me that no state was allowed to have two flags, except Jammu and Kashmir. It shows that the state government has set up the committee with an eye on the polls,” he said.
In Mysuru, senior BJP leader and former Law minister S Suresh Kumar on Wednesday accused Chief Minister Siddaramaiah of advocating separatism by planning to design an official Karnataka flag at a time elections are round the corner.
