As part of this experiment, Sangh Parivar leaders has proposed fielding diehard fan Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi, and pro-Hindutva Kannada columnist Pratap Simha against sitting popular MP Jayaprakash Hegde in the Udupi-Chikmagalur constituency in the upcoming elections.
It is said that there has been a positive response in this regard, with Pratap Simha willing to contest from Udupi-Chikmagalur if he indeed gets a ticket from the BJP.
If reports are to be believed, the state BJP is contemplating giving tickets to four new faces in the party.
DVS hesitant
Former chief minister D V Sadananda Gowda, who had earlier contested from Udupi-Chikmagalur constituency, has reportedly refused to contest from the same constituency this time. Apart from Sadananda Gowda, the only names that were resounded within the party for this constituency were that of C T Ravi and Shobha Karandlaje's.
However, due to several reasons, there is not much preference for either of them contesting from this constituency. Hence, when Sangh Parivar suggested fielding a new face from the party this time from Udupi-Chikmagalur, Pratap Simha's name was proposed and accepted by the selection committee, with hopes of winning from this constituency.
