Mangalore, Aug 21: Under the aegis of Rashtriya Hindu Andolan, the local unit of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti staged a protest in front of the deputy commissioner's office here on Wednesday, urging the fulfillment of various demands such as withdrawal of the union government's decision to provide financial aid to madrasas' in the country and prevention of maligning of Hindu saints.
The protestors also urged the union government to pressurise the neighbouring China to stop the circulation of maps showing parts of Kashmir and Arunachal Pradesh as Chinese territory.
The protestors claimed that madrasas were a source of sexual harassment of Hindu girls after being lured by Muslim boys. The same madrasas are centres of involuntary conversion where anti-national activities are held and girls are forcibly converted to Islam. The union government should immediately withdraw the aid of Rs 100 crores allotted for the modernisation of these madrasas, they demanded.
They also demanded adequate protection for pilgrims of Amarnath Yatra, adding that the government should foremost protect the interest of the majority community instead of minority groups.
Members of the Hindutva outfit warned of nation-wide protest if the government failed to fulfill their demands.
A similar protest was held in Udupi by the local unit of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti on Wednesday.
