Mangalore, Aug 21: A delegation of Bearys Welfare Forum, Abu Dhabi, led by its president Mohamed Ali Uchil met Dakshina Kannada district Deputy Commissioner A B Ibrahim, at his office recently.
Abdulla Madumoole, General Secretary, Rasheeed Bejai, executive committee member along with Mohd. Badrudeen, President Al Wafa Trust and U H Umer of Career Guidance Bureau, Mangalore were in the delegation.
During the interaction the DC highlighted the projects which have been earmarked by Central and state governments for NRI's and particularly for minorities, and the steps being taken to implement them.
BWF delegation had a very cordial discussion with him and spoke at length about the problems facing by Nonresident Kannadigas in detail and Mangaloreans in particular.
Mr. Ibrahim also stressed on educating the youth on moral values and advised the youth to take up education on priority basis and try to join the government service. He promised he would do his best to meet the aspirations of NRKs and its vicinity and asked for support and cooperation NRIs.
"Tourism must be given priority as there is plenty of potential in Karnataka, being a state of educated and intelligent people. To do that, we have to improve infrastructure like roads, footpaths, drainage and garbage disposal systems etc, which is being done on a war footing," he said.
During the interaction session he answered questions in a professional manner by giving apt replies.
He has given very good news to Non resident Indians from Karnataka –that from next year onwards Karnataka government is planning to ease the eligibility criteria for government seats in professional colleges-through CET.
It is reminded that BWF has been appealing Karnataka government since 5 years to redress the said eligibility criteria by proper amendments to prevailing eligibility criteria.
