Mangaluru, Dec 22: On the occasion of Christmas season, RevLimiterz in association with NorthernSky Properties, organized a road safety awareness and fund-raising ride for charity under the banner of 'United Riders of Mangaluru' on Sunday, setting up a new landmark in the city in promoting road safety.
With over 75 bikers committing for safe riding as a daily habit of two wheeler riders, the ride was flagged off from Forum Fiza Mall, in the city at 4 p.m. on Sunday. The sole objective of the event was to promote road safety among the public, with number of accidents and the problem of traffic congestion increasing day by day in Mangaluru.
The event started with a talk on road safety by Shawn Fernandes and distribution of stickers to the general public promoting the same. The organisers focused and called on educated people to wear helmets and safety gear while riding two-wheelers, not using mobile phones on the road and strictly observe no riding under the influence of alcohol, lane discipline and so on.
The ride commenced from Forum Fiza Mall and headed towards City Centre Mall, MG road, Lalbagh, Bejai, KPT junction during which the participants distributed road-safety stickers at all junctions. This was followed by a visit to Balagraha Ashram, Maryhill, where all the participants distributed Christmas sweets and sang fun-filled Christmas carols bringing smiles and spreading cheers to the children in the ashram. The ashram was also donated few essentials required in looking after the children, by sponsors.
The awareness ride continued to Tannirbhavi beach, where road safety was promoted and more stickers were distributed to families and passers-by. The event was sponsored by NorthernSky Properties Pvt Ltd.
The participating clubs were Mangaluru Jawa Yezdi Club, Naked Wolves Mangaluru, Yamaha Riders Club Mangaluru, Orange Falcons, Team Flyby, Flying Bandits and Team Rattlers.
