Mangaluru, Jan 25: A group of trouble-mongers threw a stone and broke the window pane of a Masjid at Soorikumeri village near Mani in Bantwal taluk on the outskirts of the city.
In a complaint lodged at jurisdictional Vittal police station, president of administrative committee of the masjid Haji Yusuf has stated that miscreants had broken the glass pane of a window in Badriya Jumma Masjid at Soorikumeri and also destroyed the banner belonging to SKSSF put up next to the Masjid.
The untoward incident occurred in the intervening night of Friday and Saturday.
Soon after news of the incident spread, local residents gathered around the masjid and a tense situation prevailed. On hearing of the incident, Bantwal ASP Rahul Kumar, along with Bantwal Circle inspector Belliappa and Vittal police sub-inspector Raghavendra T R, visited the spot and did an inspection.
Vittal police made security arrangements so that no other untoward incidents occurred. A case was registered in this regard.
House pelted with stones
In a similar incident, stones were pelted at a house near Soorikumeri belonging to Monaka, thereby damaging the windows of the house.
