Mangaluru, Mar 2: The unexpected showers that lashed parts of Dakshina Kannada and Kasaragod districts on Sunday gave pleasant surprise to the people.
The drizzle started from 4:00 p.m. in Mangaluru and surrounding areas. It was a welcome change to the people of the region who are bracing up to face an intense summer spell.
Thousands of Sangh Parivar activists, who took part in Hindu Samajotsav at Nehru Maidan on Sunday, considered it a shower of blessings. “33 crore gods and goddesses showed their presence by showering us with rain,” claimed Sadhwi Balika Saraswati, the main speaker at Samajotsav.
Belthangady and Sullia taluks of Dakshina Kannada district also witnessed pleasant rain in the evening.
On the other hand in Kanhangad, Hosangadi and Manjeshwaram towns of Kasaragod the rain lashed at around 10 a.m. providing a respite for the steadily rising day temperature.
It took many by surprise, as there was virtually no visible cloud formation that could lead to rains.
The nearly 30-minute-long drizzle ensured a pleasant day, as the skies by and large remained overcast.
Heavy rain
Meanwhile, heavy rains lashed in parts of Bengaluru, Chikkaballapur and Gauribidanur in Karnataka on Sunday throwing normal life out of gear.
