Mangaluru, Jun 10: In an apparent attempt to create communal tensions in the sensitive areas of Dakshina Kananda district, trouble mongers have attacked two places of worship in two consecutive days at Kumpala near Ullal town.
Jurisdictional Ullal police said that miscreants pelted stones at two Masjids at Kumpala on Monday and Tuesday causing damages to both the buildings.
In the first incident unidentified miscreants pelted stones at a Masjid located near Noorani Yatheem Khana at Kumpala in the wee hours of Monday.
A few glass panes of a window were damaged in the pelting. Ullal police visited registered a case and started investigation.
Even though the police acted swiftly and launched efforts to trace the perpetrators after the first attack, miscreants continued their effort to create tension in the town.
The very next day, another Masjid in Kumpala, which is located a few meters away from the damaged Masjid in Kumpala, was targeted by the miscreants in a similar way.
The management of the Masjid filed a complaint about damage to window panes following pelting.
Apart from searching for the perpetrators, the Ullal police have advised the managements of the two Masjids to install night vision closed circuit cameras that helps in tracing persons involved in such acts.
Health Minister U T Khader paid a visit to damaged Masjid and urged the police to take necessary action to nab the culprits and prevent recurrence of communal tension in the area.
