Mangaluru, Oct 5: Dozens of BJP Yuva Morcha activists, including resident of Adyar on Monday staged a demonstration in front of Mangaluru South Police Station protesting the alleged police negligence towards two year old Akshata death case.
With this the demand for justice for the 18-year-old girl who was found dead under mysterious circumstances on the banks of a river at Bolar in 2013, has been invigorated.
Akshata, a II year BCom student had gone missing on September 21, 2013 and found dead after three days. A series of protest were held in 2013 by students and ABVP activists to pressurise the police to nab the culprits in the case.
It is suspected that her alleged boy friend identified as Madan, who went absconding after the incident, had committed the crime. However, the Mangaluru South Police who were investigating the case, had closed it as they failed to find any evidence to prove that it was a murder.
BJP Yuva Morcha leader Pradeep Kumar Shetty told coastaldigest.com that despite several efforts over the past two years urging speedy inquiry in the Akshata death case, police had made no progress in ascertaining whether the death was actually a suicide as ruled by them.
“The girl was often found with a boy called Madan from Manjeshwar who had a bad reputation. Since her body was found, the boy has gone missing and the police have made no tangible efforts to trace his whereabouts. It is unfortunate that the investigating team has not collected the forensic reports from the concerned forensic laboratories after the viscera from the body was sent for forensic examination,” he said.
“We fear that the police are trying to close the case without arriving at a probable conclusion in the case. The police have failed to trace the main suspect Madan, who was spotted at a local programme last year, in spite of potential evidence against him. It is strongly suspected that he trapped the girl by luring her with drugs and murdered her,” he said demanding justice to the victim’s family.
