Mangaluru, Oct 12: A prominent Indian Muslim cleric has expressed grave concern over the decaying moral values among students in the country.
Speaking at the launch of the Markaz Excellency Club in the city on Mangaluru, AP Aboobacker Musliyar, opined that failure of the system in imparting moral education to the students is one of the main reasons for this problem.
Musliyar, who is the All India Sunni Jam-Iyyathul Ulema, called upon the governments to include moral values and etiquettes of life in the school and college syllabuses to prevent students from moving astray.
“It is a tragedy that learnt and highly educated individuals also committing in large numbers in this country,” he said calling for a reformation in education system.
Sayyid Fazal Koyamma Tangal, the Khazi of Ullal, presided over the function held at Sahodaya Auditorium in the presence of a galaxy of Muslim religious and social leaders.
Director of Markaz Calicut Dr Abdul Hakim Azhari, Markaz HR Manager Hameed Hasan, scholar Abdurrasheed Zaini and others gave speeches.
UT Khader, Minister for Health and Family Affaris, Ibrahim Musliyar Bekal, the Khazi of Udupi and president of Karnataka Jam-Iyyathul Ulema, M Abdul Hameed Musliyar Maani, PM Abbas Musliyar Manjanady, Mohiuddin Bava, MLA, Mangaluru North, Yenepoya Muhammad Kunhi, Zakariyya Bajpe, NRI industrialist, SM Rasheed Haji, President, DK district Wakf Advisory Committee also spoke.
BM Mumtaz Ali welcomed and Haider Partippady proposed the vote of thanks.
