Dadri, Dec 9: Mohammad Danish, who had suffered serious injuries when a a mob in Bishahra village on September 28, attacked him and killed his father, Akhlaq, pointed towards the son and relatives of local BJP leader Sanjay Rana as the main culprits responsible for spreading false rumours about beef in their home and leading the murderous mob .
As a key witness who survived the attack, Danish recorded his statement before the police on Saturday. Police had earlier recorded the statements of all the key witnesses in the case including Danish’s sister Shaista and was waiting for Danish to recover fully to record his statement.
Police is expected to submit the charge sheet in next ten days.
Danish in his statement named three persons besides the ten persons earlier named by his family as those who were involved in the attack . Shaista had named six persons in her last statement given to the magistrate last week. The three individuals named by Danish also figure in this list of six villagers .
Mohammad Sartaj, a corporal with Indian Air Force said that Danish in his statement named Sanjay Rana's eldest son Vishal Rana, a local veterinary doctor Arun Kumar and Vinay, son of Om Mahesh.
“Danish told the police that he saw Vishal entering our house in Bishahra. He [Vishal] told Danish that it was his [Danish] last day and then instigated the mob to attack,” Sartaj said.
“Danish also told the police that most of the people who were part of the mob were our neighbours. But the mob was led by Vishal,” Sartaj added.
Dr. Arun Kumar is the local veterinary doctor who allegedly told the mob that the skin which was seen near Akhlaq’s house was that of a cow.
The villagers who had allegedly noticed the piece of hide near Akhlaq’s house, showed it to the veterinary doctor on the night of September 28. Following Kumar’s confirmation, the mob allegedly led by Vishal Rana went to the temple to announce that a calf was killed by Akhlaq and asked people to gather outside his house.
