Riyadh, May 20: The costumes of Melania Trump, the first lady of USA and Ivanka Trump, the first daughter of USA, during their visit to Saudi Arabia are drawing attention on social media.
Both did not wear headscarves when the accompanied President Donald Trump to the oil rich country. But they refrained from exposing themselves too much and covered their bodies almost fully.
The first lady, who was once a popular model, is known for her skin fit and sexy costumes. However, during Saudi Arabia visit her loose-fitting, black pantsuit with a golden belt almost resembled a burqa. Ivanka Trump too wore a black-and-white dress with long sleeves.
Melania’s decision to avoid headscarf in violation of Saudi’s customs is consistent with custom for female foreign dignitaries visiting Saudi Arabia.
British Prime Minister Theresa May and German Chancellor Angela Merkel also shunned head coverings during visits this year.
It could be recalled here that Donald Trump had criticized former first lady Michelle Obama for not wearing a head scarf during a January 2015 visit to the nation with then-President Barack Obama.
“Many people are saying it was wonderful that Mrs. Obama refused to wear a scarf in Saudi Arabia, but they were insulted. We have enuf enemies,” Mr Trump said on Twitter in January 2015. Six months later he announced he was running for president.
