Pune, Jan 24: The Junnar police on Tuesday detained a 16-year-old boy for allegedly raping his seven-year-old stepsister. The incident took place on January 19, when their mother had gone out for some work.
Sub-inspector of Junnar police station, Suryakant Pawar told TOI that the incident came to light on Monday, when the victim's younger brother told his mother about the incident.
"Her mother was shocked when she heard about the incident. When she asked her daughter, she narrated the entire story following which the mother lodged a complaint with the police," Pawar said.
Pawar said that on Saturday, the victim's mother had gone out for some work. At that time the victim, her younger brother and the step brother were playing at home.
"While playing with the girl, the boy allegedly raped her. When the victim's younger brother saw him, the accused slapped him and asked to shut his mouth," Pawar said.
Pawar said that after the incident, the boy had threatened the victim that he would kill her if she revealed anything to her mother. "The girl, who was frightened, did not utter a word about the incident," Pawar said.
Pawar said that after the complaint was lodged, the police detained the boy. He was sent to an observation home in Pune.
The victim is being treated at the Sassoon General Hospital in Pune. "We are waiting for the medical report," Pawar said.
Pawar said that the victim is a Class II student, while the boy is a school drop out. "We are investigating further," Pawar said.
