JF- Cup 2013 gets underway

Al-Jubail, Jan 1: JF- Cup-2013, a charity event being organised by the Jubail unit of Jam’iyyatul Falah as part of its celebration of 25 years of social service got under way on December 27 at Dywidag Cricket Ground Al-Jubail.

The limited overs tennis ball cricket tournament was opened with the recitation of holy Quran December 27, 2012, at 6:00 p.m. with 14 favourite teams from Eastern province taking part in the competition.

The preliminary rounds and quarter final matches were played on first two days. Four top teams have emerged winners to move into the semifinals of JF cup 2013 namely NGC cricketers, Sabb Warriors, Al Falah Cricketers and Realtech. The semi-final and final matches will start on January 3, 2013 at 6:00 p.m. with first match being played between Al Falah and NGC, and the second semi-final match being played between Sabb Warriors v/s Realtech.

JF-Jubail has been keenly organising various activities like cricket tournaments, get-togethers, and career guidance programmes through which the people of Mangalore and other regions are brought together to fulfill the aims and objectives of community service. The tournament “JF cup 2013” is sponsored by noted NRI businessmen from Al Jubail, who have willingly joined hands with JF Jubail in raising funds for a noble cause.

The tournament had spectators coming in from various parts of eastern province, JF Jubail also ensured that a separate stand for ladies were made available to have a perfect weekend picnic for the families.

Bigger crowd is expected on 3rd January 2013 for the semifinals and final matches and for the prize distribution ceremony which will be held immediately after the finals. Entertainments and cricket quiz for the spectators is arranged during inter-match breaks.
