Dr Syed Hameed conferred with national teacher’s award

New Delhi, Sep 5: Dr Syed Hameed, principal, International Indian School, Al-Jubail, KSA, has been conferred with National Award for Teaching by the Indian government.

He was chosen for the prestigious award for his exceptional teaching services for the year 2013 by the Ministry of Human Resource Development.

The President of India, Pranab Mukherjee, presented him the award on Teachers' Day, September 5 at New Delhi among other teachers. The award carries a certificate of merit, cash award of Rs 25,000 and a silver medal.

The awardees were also given a reception by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and were felicitated by the HRD minister Smriti Irani on September 4.

Dr Hameed who belongs to a Hyderabadi family is also the educational advisor of M S Creative School, Hyderabad.

Dr Hameed holds a master degree in English literature, M.Ed., M.Phil., Ph.D, PGCTE from CIEFL and PG Diploma in Guidance and Counselling from NCERT, New Delhi.

Every year the National Award for Teaching is given to teachers and principals who have shown commitment, perseverance and hard work.

It also recognizes the awardee's reputation in the local community, academic efficiency, and desire for improvement, innovation and involvement in the social life of the community.

Ajman: Ashok Bai Baria (44), a resident of Valsad - Ahmedabad, succumbed to a heart attack in Ajman. 

The incident occurred on March 13 morning at his residence, following which he experienced severe physical distress leading to the fatal cardiac arrest. 

Fishing has been a longstanding activity in Ajman- UAE, with Baria being actively involved in the profession for many years. 

Salam Pappinissery, CEO of Yab Legal Services in the UAE, has informed that all necessary arrangements are underway to repatriate the deceased's body to his hometown.
