Saudi Arabia: Karnataka Cultural Foundation observes World Diabetes Day

Dammam: Karnataka Cultural Foundation (KCF) Saudi Arabia, the socio–cultural organization of Kannadigas in Saudi Arabia organized health camps, blood donation and health talks in Riyadh, Dammam and Jubail to mark World Diabetes Day on November 14.

The Karnataka Cultural Foundation (KCF) is one of the most active organizations of expatriate Kannadiga Muslims operating in Gulf Countries and in Malaysia. The Saudi branch of KCF is working actively among the expatriate Kannadiga Muslims to carry out various socio – cultural and professional programs that keep the expatriate workforce in Saudi Arabia enthused and motivated during their past time. KCF acts a Good Samaritan in extending humanitarian assistance to various expatriate workers during their personal and family crises.

As part of making expatriates community health conscious especially about diabetes, Karnataka Cultural Foundation (KCF) decided to organize health camps and awareness seminar in the backdrop of world diabetes day.

The Riyadh chapter of KCF organized an awareness health talk on Diabetes in association with Al- Rayyan International Poly Clinic. The program was held at the hospital hall. Mr. Hyder of Al- Rayyan hospital welcomed the gathering on behalf of the hospital. Mr. Yousuf Saqafi Baithar, the president of KCF National Committee, Saudi Arabia inaugurated the program. Mr. Nazeer Kashipatna and Farook Abbas Ullal were guests on the stage. Dr. Tanbi of Al- Rayyan International Poly Clinic gave a detailed awareness lecture on prevention and control of Diabetes. As a part of the program blood sugar and blood pressure checkup was conducted for all participants. For about 75 participants took benefit of this blood checkup camp.

In Dammam, KCF sector organized a blood donation camp to mark the occasion. 30 spirited youth of Dammam sector volunteered to donate blood and demonstrated the willingness and readiness to be useful to the society at the time of medical need. Mr. Farook Katipalla, the National Gen. Secretary of KCF along with Ashraf Saqafi, the president of Dammam KCF Sector led the campaign. Blood donation was held at Muwassat Hospital Dammam. KCF Dammam is very pleased with Mr. Aboobakkar Narve who facilitated the blood donation campaign at Muwasat Hospital.

In Jubail, Gulf Asian Medical Centre, the hospital run by Mangalorean Entrepreneurs sponsored and promoted this World Diabetes Day program organized by the enthusiastic KCF Jubail. A Health Camp to check up blood sugar and pressure was held in addition to a formal health talk on Diabetes. Dr. Sayed Ashpak of Gulf Asian Medical Centre spoke at length on risk factor involved in ignoring Diabetes. He gave useful tips to participants while answering their questions on preventing Diabetes.

Mr. Ameer, the Finance Manager of the hospital was the chief guest on the occasion. Usthad Haneef Sa’adi, the president of KCF JUBAIL sector inaugurated the health talk. Mr. Sameer, the administrative coordinator of the hospital cooperated with KCF to make the program very successful. About 62 people took the advantage of Health camp to get their BP and sugar level checked.

Ajman: Ashok Bai Baria (44), a resident of Valsad - Ahmedabad, succumbed to a heart attack in Ajman. 

The incident occurred on March 13 morning at his residence, following which he experienced severe physical distress leading to the fatal cardiac arrest. 

Fishing has been a longstanding activity in Ajman- UAE, with Baria being actively involved in the profession for many years. 

Salam Pappinissery, CEO of Yab Legal Services in the UAE, has informed that all necessary arrangements are underway to repatriate the deceased's body to his hometown.
