SyndicateBank manager arrested on charge of fraud

Udupi, June 28: The Karkala police arrested a bank manager on Wednesday on the charge of misappropriating Rs. 13.84 lakh.


The arrested is Suresh K P who was working as a Manager at the Bhuvanendra College branch of SyndicateBank.


According to a complaint given by the Deputy General Manager of SyndicateBank Regional Office, R. Subramani, the accused Suresh K.P. as a branch manager at the Bhuvanendra College branch and earlier at Moodubelle branch of the bank, had allegedly misappropriated Rs. 13.84 lakh from October 26, 2010, till recently by opening false accounts and taking money through ATM.


He had allegedly sanctioned loans under fictitious names and the money from these accounts were drawn from the ATM. The amount of Rs. 13.84 lakh was public asset. Mr. Subramani urged the police to initiate legal action against the accused Mr. Suresh. Accordingly, a case was registered at the Karkala Town Police Station.

Further investigations are on.
