Bangalore, July 4: A self-styled ‘baba’, who also claims to be a traditional medicine expert, was assaulted and paraded semi-naked by a mob in Shivajinagar on Monday night.
Nisar Ahmed, a resident of KP Agrahara, was thrashed for allegedly forcing a married woman to separate from her husband. He has, however, filed a complaint with the Shivajinagar police refuting the allegations.
The mob, led by Shama Sultana, a social activist from Shivajinagar, and Mohammed Ali, a meat merchant from Azadnagar, Chamarajpet, dragged Ahmed out of his house and kicked him. Police said they also paraded him semi-naked.
Mohammed Ali and Shabina Taj were married for nine years and the couple have two children. A few months ago his wife was diagnosed with tuberculosis and Ali had taken her to the baba.
But soon, Taj allegedly became very close to baba and told Ali that she did not want to stay with him anymore. Quoting Ali, police said he was shocked when she said that the baba was everything to her and her existence was meaningless without him.
Police said when Shama Sultana came to Ahmed’s residence on Monday night, she was shocked to see Ahmed and Taj in a compromising position. She warned Ahmed and took Taj away. Minutes later, Ali’s friends, relatives and others rushed to Ahmed’s residence and assaulted him.
The Shivajinagar police have registered a case.
