Fisherman drowns as boat capsizes near Ullal; two rescued

Mangalore, July 22: In a tragic incident, a fisherman was drowned and two others were rescued after their boat capsized near Kotepura Kodi in Ullal on Saturday.

 

While Michael D’Souza (40), fisherman from Bunder, was washed away, David and Jayaram swam to safety.

 

According to local fishermen, at around 6 a.m., their boat developed a technical snag and capsized owing to strong winds.

 

Boy drowns


Udupi, July 22: A five-year-old boy lost his life after he accidentally fell into a well at Mallar in Mala village of Karkala taluk on Friday.

 

The deceased has been identified as Rakshit.

 

The tragedy occurred when he was playing in front of his home. Police sources said that he fell into the well inside the compound accidentally.
