1,063 bottles of Indian Made Foreign Liquor seized; two held

Kasargod, Augsut 8: In a major crackdown on smuggling of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) from Karnataka ahead of the festival season, Excise Department personnel on Tuesday seized 1,063 bottles of IMFL transported in two vehicles near Badiadukka in the Kasargod district.

 

The police have also arrested two persons in this connection.

 

The team recovered 143 IMFL bottles of 180 ml each from an auto-rickshaw late on Monday while being smuggled in from Karnataka. Chandrasekharan, 26, who was in the vehicle, was arrested. It is learnt that the duo were smuggling the banned liquors through Dakshina Kannada.

 

The excise team was led by K.P. Gangadharan, Preventive Officer, Badiadukka.

 

Another team of excise personnel seized 920 bottles of 180 ml each manufactured from Goa from a car at the Belinje locality early on Tuesday. The driver of the vehicle was arrested.
