Mangalore, August 12: The Open Inter-District Independence Cup chess tournament was inaugurated in Mangalore on Sunday under the aegis of South Kanara District Chess Association.
Ratnakar Shetty, Treasurer, Udupi District Chess Association, inaugurated the event.
Participants ranging between age groups of 6 and 30 are participating in the open competition. 70 participants have registered for the one day contest.
Sudhakar Kochi of National Insurance company and Dr. Jessy Maria D’Souza, President, South Kanara District Chess Association were present.
