Himachal Pradesh, April 21: Swami Nityananda, the self styled godman who was allegedly found in compromising positions with a Tamil actress in a video, was arrested on Wednesday, April 21.
The Swami was arrested in Arki at Solan district of Himachal Pradesh in a joint operation by Karnataka - Himachal Pradesh police forces, reports said. He would be presented before the Simla Court.
Nityananda was absconding for the past month or so.
Bangalore Criminal Investigation Department, investigating cases filed against Nithyananda, said it had recently seized some documents and articles during a raid on his ashram at Bidadi, about 35 km from Solan.
During the raid by a 15-member CID team, some documents pertaining to the ashram, computers and its hardware had been taken away by police, which had also questioned several ashramites, including Nithyananda's brother Nityeshwara.
An anticipatory bail request for the Swami has also been rejected. He would be brought to Bangalore on Thursday, April 22 and presented before the Court here, reports said.
