District Level conference of Asha Members’ Association held

Mangalore, April 28: A district level conference of Asha Members’ Association was held at N.G.O hall, Mangalore on Wednesday, April 28.

Dr. Srinivasa Kakkilaya, popular doctor and writer, inaugurated. Speaking on the occasion, he said that the association has to create an exploitation free society. According to concerned authorities, drug companies are testing their medicines on small children resulting in their death, he revealed.In the pretext of curbing new diseases, the government spent crores of rupees money as ‘special projects’. Their spending has tobe brought under the scanner and questioned, he appealed.

Smt. D Nagalaxmi, State secretary, Karnataka State United Asha Members’ Association and Chief Guest of the function, in her address, recalled the state level conference that served as an eye-opener for the government. Child death reports during the deliveries, have reduced thanks to the efforts of Asha Members Association, she said. She alleged that the government is wasting too much money on unnecessary things while it has failed to provide facilities like salary, uniform, allowances and the like.

Prathima welcomed the gathering. K.V Bhat, State secretary, All India UTUC, Sandhya, State council member, All India Women’s Cultural Association, Yashodha Muralidhar and many others were present.
