Belthangady: Police nab 2 for illegal siphoning of petrol

Mangalore April 28: The Belthangady Police team led by G B Subbapura Matha, S I, arrested two in connection with petroleum theft at Ballal Estate near Marigudi of Farenki Village in Belthangady Taluk on Wednesday, April 28.

The arrested have been identified as Cyril D Mello (23) of Moodushedde and Rajesh Sequeria (23) of Shimoga, who allegedly tried to siphon petrol illegally from the pipeline of Petronet M H B Ltd, a transportation line of petroleum products between Mangalore and Bangalore.

Cyril and were working as the driver and the cleaner of the tanker respectively. Harish, Srikant Poojary and Suneil Shetty were the other three reported to have been a party to the crime.

Police have confiscated the Tanker (KA 19 B 2062), diesel, Tavera (SUV KA 19 3809), a PVC pipe of around 60 meter length and other equipments that were being used for the theft.

A case has been filed and further investigation is being carried out.
