Hockey U-23 (Men): India beats Ireland with 5-0

Antwerp, July 15: The Indian Junior Men's Hockey Team on Saturday defeated Ireland with 5-0 in their opening match at the U-23 Five Nations Tournament (Men).

Led by Dipsan Tirkey, the Indian Junior Men's Hockey Team found their momentum after a goal-less first quarter. The first goal was struck by Rajkumar Pal in the 20th minute of the match.

And, the second goal was scored in the 25th minute by Mohammad Umar. Mohammad Raheel goal in the 28th minute took India to a 3-0 lead.

The team's defense remained unbreakable and the Irish forwards found little space in the striking circle to convert.

Meanwhile, the team's attack did their job and scored two more goals in the 32nd and 60th minute by Shilanand Lakra and Mohd Raheel respectively.

The team will take Great Britain on July 15, at 18:30 (IST).
