Elderly couple found murdered near Kota

Udupi, August 28: An elderly couple was murdered at Parampalli of Saligrama village in Kota Police station limits on Friday night.

The deceased are Sanjeeva Kini (70) and his wife Vasanthi Kini (60). Sanjeeva Kini was a merchant at Soraba for several years and Vasanthi was a housewife.

The incident came to light on Sunday morning when Saku Bai one of their relatives visited their house to Vasanthi.

According to police the culprits entered by breaking open the front door. They murdered the couple using iron rod and grinding stone and escaped from the back door with the gold and cash after breaking open two cupboards.

Gold chain, earrings, bangles and other golden ornaments on the Vasanthi's body were also found missing. Forensic team and police dog squad rushed to the spot.

Udupi SP YS Ravi Kumar visited the spot. CPI Brahmavar Krishnamurthy is investigating. Kota police registered a case.
