Tragedy strikes family: Four drown after Kajoor Dargah visit

Mangaluru, Jan 11: In a heartrending incident, four persons of a family drowned in a river after offering special prayers at Kajoor dargah in Belthangady taluk of Dakshina Kannada district on Wednesday.

dargahThe deceased have been identified as Abdul Raheem (30), his wife Rubeena (25), and latter's siblings Yasmin (23) and Subhan (15). They had come from Pakeeranakatte, Kaup in Udupi to perform ziyarah of Kajoor Dargah.

On their way back, the family members visited Jamalabad fort and then decided to spend some time at Anthrayipalke river at Nada in the same taluk.

While playing in the water, the above four and another family member identified as Maimoona got washed away all of a sudden. Maimoona was rescued while others met watery graves. She is recovering at a hospital in Belthangdy.

Beltangady police rushed to the spot and launched an investigation.
