Raichur, Sept 18: All India Congress Committee general secretary and MLC N S Boseraju has claimed that at least six MLAs from the BJP are in touch with the Congress, and none from his party will join the BJP.
Talking to reporters here, Mr. Boseraju said that the BJP was trying to destabilise the coalition government. But, its efforts will bring no results as MLAs from the Congress and the Janata Dal (S) remain together and making efforts to strengthen the government, he said.
Meanwhile, Maski MLA Pratapgouda Patil has denied rumours that he is going to join the BJP. He said that he has not been contacted by anyone from the BJP and that there is no chance of him quitting the Congress and joining the BJP.
Talking to presspersons in Raichur on Monday, Mr. Patil, whose name was aired in some media stating that he will join hands with the Jarkiholi brothers, said that no one from the BJP has called him.
Admitting that he has contact with the Jarkiholi brothers, the MLA said that though he has good contact with them, he did not wish to follow them even if they quit the party.
A three-time MLA from Maski, Mr. Patil said that he is one among the many party aspirants for a Ministerial berth in the coalition government.
