Udupi, Mar 23: Brushing aside the rumours of his potential migration to Bharatiya Janata Party in near future, Pramod Madhwaraj, Minister for Fisheries, Youth Empowerment and Sports has made it clear that he would be contesting from Congress in the forthcoming assembly elections and not from any other party.
Speaking to media persons here on Thursday, the minister said that he is the one who has applied for the party's ticket for Udupi assembly constituency and he is hoping that he would be getting the opportunity to contest.
It could be recalled here that a voter perception survey recently conducted by civil society research organization DAKSH had given first position to Madhwaraj among 30 top performing MLAs.
Reacting to the rumours, he said that he is in-demand politician because he is number one MLA. But, he said, he will not migrate to any party. He said that he is keen to be active in the political scenario in Udupi and not in Delhi and Bengaluru.
He maintained that he has paid Rs 1 lakh for applying the ticket for Congress. Stating that he does not have any problems from the Congress within the constituency and he would not prefer taking unnecessary risks. He hoped that the parliamentary committee of Congress would clear his name for contesting the elections.
