Mangaluru, Jan 19: Two college students were arrested with 2 kg of ganja on Thursday in Kasaragod.
Among them, one is an activist of the Students Federation of India (SFI) and the other studies in Mangaluru.
Donald Kunhimon, 20, a student of Sridevi College, Mangaluru, and hailing from Karikottakari in Kannur and Shan Sebastian, 20, an SFI activist and a student of Government College, Kasaragod, and a native of Aralam in Kannur were apprehended by a team led by Kasaragod Town Principal sub-inspector P. Ajithkumar here on Thursday.
The police also seized a motorbike used by them. The police said they were taking the ganja to Mangaluru.
It was suspected that the students were carriers and were transporting the ganja, sourced from Idukki and Andhra Pradesh, for a group based in Kumbla.
The police action came on a tip-off that the narcotic lobby was targeting students community in local schools and colleges.
The police have asked the parents to remain vigilant against possible drug abuse by their wards.
