Mangaluru, Sept 11: As part of the Congress party’s nationwide campaign against the Modi government’s controversial Rafale deal, the Dakshina Kannada District Congress Committteee (DKCC) staged a protest in Mangaluru today.
The protest comes a day after the coastal city witnessed a successful bandh against Modi govt’s failure to control the hike in fuel prices and weakening value of the rupee.
Around two hundred Congress workers took part in the protest march from Ambedkar Circle to the Office of the Deputy Commissioner.
The protesters alleged that the BJP-led NDA government misled the nation by quoting "illogical and imaginary data" on the Rafale deal. They demanded a probe into deal to bring out the truth.
"Rafale deal is the biggest scam. Why is the central government not forming Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) to probe the deal?," asked former Mangaluru South MLA J R Lobo.
DKCC president Harish Kumar and former minister Ramanath Rai were present among others.
The Congress party has alleged that the Rafale aircraft deal involved a Rs 1,41,000 crore scam. The party has deployed its leaders in various states to highlight this “huge scam.”
