Mangaluru/Udupi Sep 23: The District Congress Committees in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi on Saturday launched ‘Mane Manege Congress’ campaign on the directions of the KPCC and AICC. The campaign aims to strengthen the party at the grassroots level in the run-up to the 2018 Assembly elections.
Dakshina Kannada district in-charge minister B Ramanath Rai inaugurated the district level campaign at Kadri Shivabhag in Mangaluru while his Udupi counterpart Pramodh Madhwaraj inaugurated the programme at the labour colony Kannarpadi near Kinnimulki.
Rai said that the Congress workers will visit all the houses in the district to create awareness on welfare programmes of the Congress-led state government. The household visits will be held till October 15. The programme is an effort to strengthen democracy as well, he said.
Madhwaraj said that it the responsibility of the Congress workers to inform the households about the benefits they have received under various welfare schemes – Anna Bhagya, Ksheera Bhagya, Pashu Bhagya, Arogya Bhagya, Krishi Bhagya, Vasathi Bhagya, Vidya Siri, midday meal, scholarships, and a large number of rural and urban development programmes of the State government.
The campaign also aims at gradually transforming the Congress from being a mass-based party to a cadre-based one with active participation of booth-level agents.
