Mangaluru, Sept 18: A notorious rowdy-sheeter and a minor boy have been arrested by the Kankanady Town Police on the charge of bag-snatching and attempt to break an ATM.
The rowdy-sheeter Arif (24), resident of Vamanjoor, is already facing 13 cases including an attempt to murder and dacoity in Kankanady, Kavoor and Bantwal Rural police limits.
Arif, riding a scooter along with the boy, allegedly snatched a bag from a woman in Kulashekara recently, the police said.
The police have also seized the scooter which did not have registration plate.
The police said that as many as 16 cases of bag-snatching were reported in Mangaluru City Police Commissionerate and Dakshina Kannada District Police limits and they are examining Arif’s role in them.
He is also involved in an attempt to break open the ATM of Syndicate Bank at Panemangaluru, the police said and added that he was involved in stealing truck batteries and other articles along with Azharuddin. A jurisdictional court has sent Arif to judicial custody.
Police Constables Santosh, Madan, Vindo, Rajesh, Nutan, Satish, Sandip, Jeevan, Megharaj, Sub-Inspectors Janaki and T.R. Pradeep and Inspector Ravish Naik were involved in arresting the accused, a communique here said.
