Shettar wants probe on Patil's ‘links’ with gangster

Hubballi/Vijayapura, Jul 18: Former chief minister Jagadish Shettar on Tuesday sought an impartial enquiry into senior Congress leader and MLA M B Patil’s ‘relationship’ with Bengaluru’s notorious history-sheeter ‘Cycle’ Ravi.

M Ravikumar alias ‘Cycle’ Ravi (42), involved in over 30 cases, was shot at and nabbed by the Central Crime Branch (CCB) police in Bengaluru on June 27, 2018.

“Patil has spoken to Ravi over 80 times and there should be an impartial enquiry about what he spoke to a rowdy,” Shettar demanded.

The BJP leader urged Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy and Deputy Chief Minister

G Parameshwara to consider charges of phone call transactions between Patil and Ravi seriously and not yield to any pressure in conducting an enquiry against the former minister.

Meanwhile, Patil, the Babaleshwar MLA, said that he would move the court against efforts of linking him with Ravi and those indulging in his character assassination. “I’ve no links with Ravi.

I don’t even know him. I’ve never made phone calls to him. Reports aired in a section of media linking me with Ravi are false,” Patil claimed.

“The mobile phone number used to contact Ravi belongs KPCC member Sachidanand, who is my friend and I’ve spoken to Sachidanand and not Ravi” he clarified.
