Bengaluru, Sept 11: A stray dog attacked and bit three children who were playing outside their houses a Padmanabhanagar in South Bengaluru.
Two girls, aged 7 and 9, and an 11-year-old boy were rushed to the hospital after the attack on Monday morning.
While the first victim was 9-year-old Mahadevi, the second one was 11-year-old Tanmay. His mother Meena Mangala said: “My son was playing outside the house as his school was shut due to the bandh. He was attacked by the dog and rushed back home within minutes bleeding profusely. The dog bit him on the legs. He was administered anti-rabies injection at a private hospital,” said Meena Mangala, Tanmay’s mother. She said the area was home to strays and they bark through the night.
After a while, the dog came back for the next quarry. “My daughter, Kote Siri, was playing outside our house when she was bitten on the leg around 11am,” said the girl’s mother Kasturi, who came from Tamil Nadu to Bengaluru along with her husband to work as a labourer.
Soon after receiving a complaint from the BBMP, its animal husbandry officials swung into action and caught the dog by afternoon. The animal has been kept under observation at Chamarajpet animal birth control centre.
