Udupi, Oct 16: The road connecting Doopadakatte in Byrampalli gram Panchayat limits in Udupi district collapsed under the influence of flood waters on Tuesday evening and the main road connectivity between Perdoor and Harikhandige was cut off.
District officials said that heavy rain accompanied by lightning and thunder lashed Udupi on Tuesday and wreaked havoc in different parts of the district.
Standing paddy crops in more than 40 acres of land were marooned. Floodwaters have also inundated plantations with horticultural crops. A few houses are also facing the threat of floods at Byrampalli.
