Kateel, Karnik, Harikrishna booked for poll code violation

Bantwal, Apr 23: Bantwal Town Police have registered a case against Nalin Kumar Kateel, MP, Ganesh Karnik, MLC, and Harikrishna Bantwal, a BJP leader, for violating model code of conduct on Friday last.

It was registered on the basis of a complaint filed by Abdul Razak, a flying squad member of the Election Commission, in Bantwal Assembly Constituency on April 20.

The complaint said that the three had personally blamed the Bantwal Congress candidate B. Ramanath Rai in their speech in the constituency on April 20.

Thus, they have violated the model code of conduct. The case (crime number 293/2018) has been registered under Section 123 (4) of the Representation of the People Act, 1951.
