Mangaluru, May 17: At least seven people were killed in separate incidents in Karnataka’s coastal area after cyclone Tauktae pounded the region with heavy rain and gusty winds on Sunday.

Mangaluru/Udupi, May 16: The deep depression over the east-central Arabian Sea has intensified into cyclonic storm Tauktae, unleashing heavy rain and sea erosion in coastal districts while bringing widespread rain in Malnad region.

Abdul Latheef Hassan Idrees, a Mangalurean residing Saudi Arabia passed away last night in a hospital in Riyadh. He was hospitalized a month ago due to breathing problem. He didn't respond to the treatment and breathed his last at around 9 p.m. on May 13.
