Over 80 modern, vintage, exotic cars, super bikes on display at Auto Expo 2K19

Mangaluru, Mar 15: Department of Automobile Engineering of Srinivas Institute of Technology, Valachil Mangaluru, organized a one day mega event “Auto Expo 2019”, which was open for the students and public recently, in the Srinivas college Valachil campus. Mr. Rakesh Vittal shetty, Proprietor, RHEA constructions and Mr. Girish Kumar N. General Manager Renault, Mangaluru were the chief guests for the event.

Speaking on the occasion Mr. Girish Kumar explained different technologies adopted in the latest vehicles. He also highlighted the growth of Automobile industries in India.

Dr. Shrinivasa Mayya D, principal, who presided over the function, congratulated the students for organizing the mega event and advised the students to update their knowledge in the ever changing technology in Automobile sector.

Dr. Ramakrishna N.Hegde, HOD, Automobile Engineering, praised the effort, dedication and exemplary exhibition of team work and coordination in conducting such a mega event in the department, by the students and also advised the students to take such technical activities to a much higher level.

Mr. Mehul, student of Automobile Engineering, welcomed the gathering. Mr. Ashwin Ferrao, introduced the chief guest and Master of ceremony was done by Mr. Deekshit and Miss. Spandana.

The event was coordinated by Mr. Jerome Anthony and Mr. Amit Kumar H, faculty advisors of Automobile Department. More than 80 Modern, Vintage and Exotic cars, jeeps Super Bikes were on display in the event. The workshop was successfully completed with the support of faculties of Automobile Department, HOD, Principal and Management.

Mangaluru, Apr 30: The Adani Group’s move to exorbitantly hike the parking fee at Mangauru International Airport from May 1 has triggered criticism by passengers and vehicle drivers. 

Mangalureans took to social media to express their rage against the Adani group’s avarice amidst pandemic. The group had taken over the operations and management of the Airport in July 2019 for next 50 years from the Central government. 

As per new parking tariff, coach buses and trucks will be charged Rs 300 for half an hour and Rs 500 for two hours. So far the parking fee was Rs 70 for 30 minutes.

Mini buses and tempos are now supposed to pay Rs Rs 200 and Rs 350 for half an hour and two hours parking respectively. So far  the parking fee for half an hour was Rs 60.

Hired taxis will have to pay Rs 60 instead of the earlier Rs 55 for parking while commercial cars have to pay Rs 90. Two wheeler parking price has been increased from Rs 15 to Rs 20.

Mangaluru, Apr 29: Within two hours of the death of a political activist from Ullal in Mangaluru taluk, his wife too passed away in the wee hours of Thursday (April 29).

The deceased are Nazeer Ahmed (62) and his wife Jameela (54), residents of Mastikatte in Ullal. 

Ahmed was a Congress leader in Ullal. Prior to joining Congress, he was a leader of Indian Union Muslim League for a prolonged period. 

Ahmed, who was suffering from fever and high blood pressure, was rushed to a private hospital in Thokkottu last night when his health condition worsened. However, he breathed his last around 12:30 p.m., family sources said. 

His wife was reportedly in a state of shock after seeing the mortal remains of her husband. At around 2:30 a.m. she suffered a heart attack and passed away at her residence, sources said.   

The last rites of the couple were held today at the graveyard near Ullal Dargah.

Bengaluru, Apr 25: The practical examinations of second-year pre-university college (PUC 2) courses which were scheduled to begin on April 28 across Karnataka have been postponed, said a circular issued by the Department of Pre University Education on Sunday.

Considering the requests from parents, teachers and students to postpone the exams in the wake of a spike in the Covid-19 cases across the state, the department has decided to act on them.

However, colleges have been directed to conduct practical exams after the completion of theory examinations.
