Mangaluru, Apr 9: Ullal Dargah has been uniting the people and consolidating the religion for centuries, opined Sufi M K Chishty, chairman of the Gujarat Haj committee.
Speaking after felicitating the achievers at the national peace conference organised at Sayyid Shareeful Madani Dargah of Ullal on Wednesday as part of its 20th quinquennial Urs ceremony, he said uniting the people of all faiths was one of the characteristics of Ullal Dargah.

Chisty, who is also a leader of Gujarat BJP Minority Morcha and ‘Sufi’ face of BJP, said that all the religions propagate peace, humanity and brotherhood.
“No human being is born in this world as a terrorist. Neither Islam, nor any other religion propagate terrorism,” he said adding that only a few misguided people have become terrorists. However, he said, it is not appropriate to depict Islam as a religion of terrorists.
Chisty, who is also the head priest of Atodara Dargah, said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led BJP government in India treats people of all religions equally.
Speaking on the occasion, Abdul Rasheed Zaini, Vice President, All India Sunni Students Federation, said that Hindus of India had wholeheartedly welcomed Arabian Muslims to the country during 16th century.
He said that many people belonging to the household of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) also had come to India to spread the message of peace among Indians.
“When Muslims came to India in the beginning they did not know the culture and traditions of this land. However, Hindus welcomed them and they lived together for centuries. Today, people of different faiths are fighting with each other for very trivial reasons,” he said.
Leaders of various faiths and political parties were present on the occasion. They offered special prayers at Dargah and called for communal harmony.
