Thiruvananthapuram, Aug 29: The PMO has sought explanation from Kerala government regarding the incident of banning RSS sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat from hoisting the national flag on Independence day at an aided school here.
The PMO has sought explanation on the same to the chief secretary based on a complaint filed by BJP Palakkad district president, and has ordered to give a clear answer to the complainant.
Mohan Bhagawat hoisting the national flag at Karnaki Amman Higher Secondary School in Vadakkanthara became controversial because the district collector had earlier directed the school authorities against inviting the RSS chief for the special occasion, pointing it out that only the head master or a people’s representative was authorised to hoist the flag in an aided school.
Nevertheless, the management ignored the collector’s order and made Mohan Bhagawat hoist the national flag in the school. Also, singing “Vande Mataram” after the flag hoist became another controversy. The national anthem was rendered only after someone from the stage reminded to do so.
The headmaster hoisted the flag for a second time after Mohan Bhagawat left, to avoid defying the rule.
The collector had submitted a report to the government after investigation.
