Mangaluru, Dec 26: Nearly two dozens of passengers were injured, a few of them critically, when a speeding KSRTC bus plunged off a bridge into Netravati River at Uppinangady on the outskirts of the city on Friday.
The tragedy took place at around 4:30 a.m. when the driver of the bus plying towards Udupi from Bengaluru lost control over his vehicle on Nethravati bridge.
Fortunately the bus fell on a dry part of the river which lessened the magnitude of the accident. The passengers managed to come out of the toppled bus with the help of others.
Sources said that there were nearly three dozens of people on board the bus, out of whom one dozen passengers miraculously escaped without any injuries.
The injured have been admitted to hospitals. A case has been registered at Uppinangady police station.
